SIE-2022, the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Associazione Società Italiana di Elettronica (SIE), will be held at the TUI MAGIC LIFE Calabria in Pizzo (VV), Italy from September 7 to 9, 2022.

An International Graduate School for PhD students in Electronics is also organized by SIE and will be held at the University of Calabria in Rende (CS), Italy, before the meeting from September 5 to 7, 2022.

The SIE-2022 Annual Meeting will include invited lectures involving experts in state-of-the-art topics, oral sessions, round tables, live demonstrations and selected expositions, with the goal of complementing the regular program with emerging topics of particular interest to the Italian Electronics community and to discuss research results in the following areas:

PHD School

Rende, September 5-7, 2021

The Ph.D. School of the SIE (“Società Italiana di Elettronica” – “Italian Electronics Society”) is an important event linked to the SIE Annual Meeting.

This year the School focuses on Automotive Electronics. The purpose of the school is to provide an overview of the technology, industry, and research in electronics for the Automotive. Attention will be devoted also to contiguous disciplines that are fundamental for a fruitful deployment of such networks.

Given the crosscutting relevance of the topic, the School is expected to be of great interest not only for Ph.D. students dealing with electronics, but also for those involved in similar fields, like telecommunication, electrical, industrial, computer science engineering.

At the end of the school it will be possible to take a test. All the participants will receive a certificate of individual attendance.

Ph.D. students and recent graduates are warmly invited to participate to this unique experience. Young researchers, doctors, and company’s R&D staff can also participate.

On September 7th, at the end of the International Graduate School for PhD, a bus transfer from University of Calabria in Rende (CS) to TUI MAGIC LIFE Calabria in Pizzo (VV) will be provided and it is already included in the registration fee.

PhD School Venue

The School for Ph.D. students will be held at the University of Calabria, Aula Caldora, Via Alberto Savinio, 87036 Arcavacata Rende CS.

How to get to the Campus

The Campus in Arcavacata can be reached in different ways based on the means of transport chosen:

• • By car: Take the motorway Autostrada A2 Salerno-Reggio Calabria –> Exit Rende – Cosenza Nord, and follow the road signs to Università – Paola.
  • By train: The railway station in Castiglione Cosentino, that is connected to the railway terminals of Paola (railway along the Tyrrhenian sea) and Sibari (railway along the Ionian sea), is just 3 kilometers away from the Campus. Outside the station there is a bus stop of Consorzio Autolinee buses that connect the town of Cosenza with the Campus: once you leave the railway station, walk along Via Edison for about 100 meters, then cross Via L. Da Vinci and there you will find a bus shelter where the buses heading to the University stop.
  • By plane: The airport of Lamezia Terme is the closes airport and it is connected to the towns of Rende and Cosenza by means of coaches. For further information on how to get to Cosenza-Autostazione (the coach station) visit the website www.sacal.it.
  • By coach: The Campus in Arcavacata is connected to the main towns and villages of Calabria by means of a coach transport system. The company that runs the bus service for Cosenza and Rende is Consorzio Autolinee whose terminal is in Cosenza in Piazza Autostazione. Coaches also stop in several parts of the towns of Cosenza and Rende (there is also one in Quattromiglia) and another terminal is at the Campus.

PhD Thesis Award

PhD theses, whose topic fall within one of the seven SIE research areas and which have been defended between June 1, 2021 and May 31, 2022, will be evaluated by a purposely nominated Award Committee.

The deadline for the submission is June 30 (Thursday), 2022. The PhD Thesis must be uploaded through EasyChair at the following link in a single PDF file (maximum file size 20 MB). You will receive a confirmation email (please, check also your spam folder).

The winners will be contacted by July 15 (Friday), 2022. No meeting registration is required both to participate and, for the winners, to receive the award on September 9 (Friday), 2022 in the morning.

Mario Sannino Award

The Award, established in 2001, is dedicated to the memory of Prof. Mario Sannino, professor of electronics at the University of Palermo and member of M.E.C.S.A..

The Award honors the best briefs in the field micro- and millimeter wave devices, circuits, and systems, that have young researchers (with less than 35 years) as authors and are presented to the Annual Meetings of Società Italiana di Elettronica (formerly Gruppo Nazionale di Elettronica – GE) and at National Meeting of Electromagnetism – Riunione Nazionale di Elettromagnetismo (RiNEm).

The Award consists of a prize and a certificate.
